What are you thankful for?

At this time of year, as a society, we tend to take stock of things that we are thankful for. Me, not one to buck the system, offer some thankful thoughts for Thanksgiving 2013 – wow… can you believe that 2013 has come and almost gone?

The number one thing that I am thankful for is my faith. I didn’t always have that, but something touched me and I do now. Each day something happens that makes me stop and think and thank my maker for my faith. Not sure where I’d be without it and for that I am thankful.

The second thing that I am thankful for is my health. At Great Plains, every year starts with a wellness push with the idea that participants will carry on the whole year through. This year I took it to heart, have exercised almost every day of the year, and changed my eating habits. The results? It’s made me healthier, more energetic, and smaller. There is 70 lbs less of me than there was Thanksgiving 2012, and for that I am thankful.

Third thing I am thankful for? Employment. Sometimes meaningful employment is taken for granted. It is truly a blessing to have a job that you appreciate and that appreciates you. Great Plains has brought together some of the best of the best and assembled them into a company that makes coming to work a joy. We collaborate and cooperate and in the process build some of the best implements and attachments in the world. For work that I enjoy and the products we produce, I am thankful.

Fourth is my family. I have two responsible children that are quickly approaching adulthood. I have a loving wife that supports me in my vocation. I would like to think that I support her in hers as well. Family has always been important and we are always there for each other. Through all of life’s ups and downs, we are there for the smiles and the tears and the laughs and the cries and for that I am thankful.

There are other things too… my dogs, my parents, my guitar, my bicycle, cell phones, eye doctors, clean water, food and clothing, friends and neighbors, Land Pride dealers and Land Pride customers, a roof over my head and a floor under my feet, blue skies and rain, pumpkin pie and turkey legs, ice cream with butterscotch topping, and even the ability to type this blog… I could go on for pages and pages. There are so many things to be thankful for and for that I am thankful.

As Thanksgiving approaches, I hope that you can find reasons to be thankful for everything in your life! Best wishes and safe travels!
