Today marks the first day of Spring. Can you believe it? Most of the nation is already experiencing very spring-like temperatures. Yesterday in Salina, home of Land Pride's World Headquarters, we set a record high for March 19th at 90 degrees. Can you believe it?

Spring means it's time to put the snow shovel away -- if you ever had to get it out -- and break out that tiller, aerator, grading scraper, or rotary cutter.

Land Pride personnel continue to crisscross the United States training dealers. In fact, since January 7th, we've been to such exotic locations as Tulsa, OK, Bryan, TX, Shelbyville, TN, and Jackson, MS, just to name a few.

Show season is upon us. Every year at this time, Land Pride gets started with what we refer to as the spring shows, even though the calendar is quite clearly still in the middle of winter.

Yep... 2016 is rapidly drawing to a close and the Holiday season is upon us. I love Christmas. I love reminiscing about Christmases past.

On Nov. 10, I had the privilege of taking part in the 2016 Trade Talk event at the 2016 National Association of Farm Broadcasters convention in Kansas City, MO. The annual event draws hundreds of broadcasters and nearly 100 businesses and ag-related groups for a one-stop shop opportunity for ag media to interview industry professionals. I was in attendance with fellow Land Pride team member Mark Decker. We shared space with Kubota who were represented by Senior Product Manager for Ag Tractors Kent Brown and Senior Product Manager for Hay Tools David Palmer.

40 years is a long time. But that's how long Land Pride and Great Plains have been exhibiting at the Kansas State Fair. This year, Land Pride received the Exhibitor Longevity Award from the Fair. The award came complete with a Fair Ribbon!

One of the many benefits of Kubota's recent acquisition of Land Pride is that we were invited to make a presentation at their 2016 Summer Sales Meeting in Los Angeles.

So what did we talk about? Land Pride implements and the great packages you can build with Kubota Tractors, of course!

As you can see from the photo, we had a number of tractors and implements on display. We had a total of 6 tractor packages that we presented with the goal of improving the value and functionality of the Kubota Tractor.

It's July. And it sure feels like it in Kansas and elsewhere! Today in Salina, KS, home to Land Pride’s World Headquarters, the forecast calls for a high of 108 degrees. 108!

Sunday is Mother’s Day.

According to a quick Google search, “Mother’s Day is a holiday honoring motherhood that is observed in different forms throughout the world.”

The article continues:  “The American incarnation of Mother’s Day was created by Anna Jarvis in 1908 and became an official U.S. holiday in 1914.”

So what do you think? Will winter be a bear? Will it be mild? How much precipitation will we see? That’s always good coffee shop banter. Right now, Salina, KS is in the 70s, not the typical weather for November.

I asked my Magic 8-Ball if it was going to snow, and it told me to “ask again later.” Since I don’t have time for that, I moved on to a trusted friend, my OFA.

Every now and then, I walk in to an e-mail inbox that has something wonderful in it. Today was one such day.

As I came in from the 3-day weekend, I was organizing my day in my head. I have several things that I need to accomplish this week and walking through my day helps me accomplish my goals. But, as is the case most days, something pops up that demands my attention. Today that "thing" is a good thing.

Last week I had the privelage of traveling to God's Country. When I say that, I frequently get, "Oh... you're coming to Colorado?" Or "When are you going to be in North Carolina?" And many other picturesque locations... However, I am actually referring to Oklahoma. Most of my family is from Oklahoma and a lot of them still live there. I have fond memories of the state and often refer to it affectionately as "God's Country."

The 2015 installment of the National Farm Machinery Show in Louisville, Kentucky kicks off 3 weeks from today. Land Pride started planning months ago. From displays, literature, equipment, and booth layout, Land Pride has discussed every aspect of our involvement; all designed to reach a crescendo on February 11 when they throw the doors to the Kentucky Exposition Center open.

This year marks the 10th year since I last celebrated Christmas at a place affectionately referred to as "The Farm." The Farm has been in my family since Oklahoma was opened for settlement. In its prime, the Farm was a family-sustaining operation with wheat, cattle, chickens, pigs, and a hay meadow nestled on a quarter section plus an inherited 40 acres in the north-central part of the state. To me, it was heaven. There was no place on earth like The Farm. My dad still owns the property. No one lives there, but the house, barn, grain bin, and the garage still stand.

Tomorrow is Thanksgiving. Tomorrow!!! That means the next day is Black Friday -- something I do not take part in -- and a month from yesterday is Christmas. Where has 2014 gone?

In preparation for this blog, I re-read last year's Thanksgiving post. From last year I listed a number of things that I was thankful for, including:

Where in the world did the summer go? I know, it's still in triple digits in many places, including Salina, KS, but there was just a hint of fall in the air this morning. Nice north breeze and temps in the 60s. Nice.

I can also say Land Pride has been busy this summer and that has made it fly by. We hit May and things got busy. Land Pride never looked back. Now it's August 26th and here I sit having missed an entire summer of blogging, just because we were so busy.

If your yard is anything like my yard, winter kill took its toll. A lot of you are probably even saying, “Dee, we haven’t even seen Spring, yet.” I feel that way too. I’m ready to get in the yard, but Old Man Winter isn’t ready to leave yet – many places around Kansas received snow on April 14 – Snow!

While I certainly understand the best time to overseed is Fall, I also understand after the brutal temperatures many of the us saw this winter, waiting might not be an option. So if it’s not, here’s what you can do:

Over the weekend, while you were celebrating Ground Hog day, seven trucks rolled out of Salina headed for Louisville, Kentucky and the 2014 National Farm Machinery Show. This week, three valuable members of the Land Pride team are working hard to prepare the 50 or so pieces that Land Pride will have on display on two lots inside the Kentucky Exposition Center. Next week 16 members of our Sales and Marketing team will be on hand to tell current and future Land Pride owners about our full line of Land Pride products.
